Tamara Kenworthey, Esq.

Tamara (Marinković) Kenworthey is the owner and the founding member of Kenworthey Law PLLC, a New York City law firm. She was born and grew up in Belgrade, Serbia, graduated from University of Belgrade, and earned her Juris Doctor degree from New York Law School in 2005.
 
Tamara is an experienced multi-lingual attorney in the USA. With her international background, she brings a valuable unique perspective and wealth of cultural understanding to her practice which sets her apart from other attorneys. Her client base is diverse and spans the globe, and it includes individual and corporate clients from various countries. She serves as an outside general counsel for foreign companies expanding to the US  market. Tamara has worked with notable celebrities as well as clients from the countries of former Yugoslavia and often represents clients across different time zones. 

Tamara's experience in different areas of the law allows her to represent clients through changing life and business cycles. These range from starting a business or expanding it to the US market, international inheritance and estate administration cases to matrimonial and real estate matters and various kinds of litigation including class action lawsuits. Her clients appreciate her knowledge of several languages, her cultural competence, and her unique ability to relate to foreign-born clients and their experiences when interacting with the US legal system. ​

Tamara’s obtained her experience in several law firms and in federal court during a judicial internship at the United States Court of International Trade in the Chambers of the Honorable Nicholas Tsoucalas, Senior Judge, better known to the general public as the “Son of Sam” judge. Tamara's legal experience includes large law firms (Skadden, Arps, Slate, Meagher, Flom LLP, Paul, Weiss, Rifkind, Wharton, Garrison LLP, and Cahill, Gordon & Reindel LLP), small general practice law firm, and the legal department of New York City Housing Preservation and Development ("HPD"). For a few years she served as an in-house counsel for a national company with approximately 200 retail locations throughout the USA. Relevant case decisions are published in the New York Law Journal.

In addition to running a successful law practice, Tamara is actively involved in the legal community. She has dedicated years of service to the New York State Bar Association ("NYSBA"), volunteering and holding key positions such as forming and heading the Serbia Chapter at NYSBA's International Section, and being on the Executive Committee of the General Practice Section at NYSBA. Last but not least, she fundraises for the incubators needed in Serbian hospitals. 

Tamara's expertise and reputation have made her a sought-after speaker at domestic and international legal conferences and Continuing Legal Education ("CLE") classes. She also maintains a strong media presence through newspaper articles, online publications, and audio/video podcasts.
